my job at Andrus gives me the opportunity to experience first-hand all the lovely weather systems that traipse up the east coast.
if you are wondering, my job is grass. yes, i'm a lawnboy
from the lightning storms and flooding, oh, and the tornado i saw last week, it gets pretty exciting.
today was the heat. 8:30am and my "safety goggles" are sliding off my face from the profuse sweat. 8:45am and my jeans and bright orange "safety chaps" are soaked through. 8:50am and i have garter snake all over me. (poor guy, he didn't know what hit him. hehehe...i have too much fun with my weedwacker sometimes) 9:00am and the grass is looking purple, the sky has this cool orange glow to it, and i'm starting to feel sick. now i've had those symptoms before, like right before i passed out of heat exhaustion as a 4th grade soccer player. i decided it was time to go inside.
no passing out this time.
i got put on boxes. they give me a razor blade and a pile of boxes and let me have fun. i like boxes. i did that for a while, and was starting to cool off in the shade of the garage when the electricity in yonkers decides to go out. so i spent the rest of the time trying to stay cool as the heat outside, and now inside, continued to climb through the 90s. fun stuff.
it's 10:39pm and 94 degrees.
the power is back on.
i'm going to bed.

This is ironic to me because a lady on NPR said yesterday that the heat was taxing the power grid across east/midwest beyond all limits on record. I guess it was just a matter of time.
We lost our air conditioning a few weeks ago at The House of Rattan because the pipes froze. Yup, we keep it so frigid in there that even the house thinks it's cold!
did he check it yet? HE HE HE HE HE HE HE HE HE HE HE HE HE HE HE!!!
(i relish that thought only as you so unjustly made that evil comment on AEA.)
aaron william, you will be _____.
It is a great job dawg, you make real good money!
I loved your city. Really I did, but have I ever told you that Calgary is the best place in the world? Pretty much is. What you describes sounds just like Seoul :P
hey, thanks for puting a link to Forrest's blog here, I just read some of his posts and got really excited about some of the things he's working on. Definitely have to make plans to be at Brian Pinner's grad recital!
